Tips to extract best possible range out of your OLA S1:
:round_pushpin:Use Normal and Eco Mode Only
:round_pushpin:Gentle on the Throttle, no sudden acceleration
:round_pushpin:Set Regen to High in city, off if on highway
:round_pushpin:Most Imp keep the Power Widget Active: while riding, keep the power consumption below 1kw/h
:round_pushpin:Try to use cruise control as much as possible, keeps the power consumption as low as possible
:round_pushpin: Tire pressure should be adequate, low pressure results in drop in range

Get Surprised with the kind of Range you can get with a single charge! :innocent: :battery:

  1. Avoid extra weight on scooter (eg: Things in boot that are not required)
  2. Ride in normal mode with Zero regen setting
  3. Very smooth and slow acceleration
  4. See traffic conditions and leave acceleration as you feel you have to stop on a signal
  5. No to minimum brake usage, but using forced regen for braking
  6. Maintain top speed within 45 kmph

Following these you will get efficiency around 20Wh/km or lesser, which gives you a very good range

From my experience these are the few tips on increasing rang of ola s1 scooter
I have extracted a maximum on 208km range from my s1 pro

  1. riding mode doesn’t matter hyper and sports mode can give you more range then eco and normal mode it’s just that you need to have control over your throttle input in sports and hyper with controlled input motor faces less stress because bigger torque band is open

  2. if planning a long ride charge your scooter a few hours more then 100% this balances the battery

3)in move os 4 you can use torque and power meter to monitor your power consumption

Tips to get maximum range on S1 Pro Gen 1:

  1. Use Eco mode with gradual throttle upto 40kmph.
  2. Apply Cruise b/w 20-40kmph in Eco mode. Cruise will not work at 41-43kmph in ECO mode.

Tips on normal mode:

  1. At normal mode you can increase range by regen.
  2. At a constant speed of 50-53kmph you can get 100-200 meter additional regen km for each 1km dashboard reading if you maintain throttle at a same speed. 100% works on flat road without uphill or downhill.
  3. Whenever you start from rest apply throttle very gradually to attain speed of constant 40-50kmph.
  4. Make use of forced regen to slowdown vehicle instead of applying brake.
  5. Watch out for spead braker and potholes and adjust your speed with forced regen, this saves brake pad, tyre life too.

Sports & Hyper mode:
If you’re aiming for max range please avoid sports and hyper.

Hi, myself Dr Anfal Lebba from #olaownerskerala
the way i squeeze my range is
1.whatever be the mode, slow acceleration and deceleration is the key…
2.i am on the heavier side, still i got 120 kms on 80 percent of charge, by ride consistently on 40- 42km/hr on normal mode on cruise control.
3. maintaining proper air pressure on both tyres- 33 psi on front and back
4. drive responsibility - because having a beast like ola doesnt mean we have to ride like a monster!!!

Use regen , don’t apply break when small breaker is near use regen

Few tips which are tried & tested

:white_check_mark: First & foremost, NEVER Throttle aggressively. Try to twist throttle as gently as possible.
:white_check_mark:In Normal mode, you will get best range between 40-50 kmph.
:white_check_mark:You can use Sport Mode as well as long as you follow 1st rule.
:white_check_mark:Use Forced Regen as much as possible to decelerate instead of erratic braking.
:white_check_mark:Make most use of Coasting by letting the throttle go when not required, and keeping Regen setting as OFF.
:white_check_mark:Maintain recommended tyre pressure.
:white_check_mark:Always keep motor clean.

I would suggest you the following tips to get maximum range in our ola vehicle

Here I attached my riding stat for your reference
Optimize your driving pattern accordingly

  1. Enhance range in normal mode through regenerative braking.
  2. Maintain a constant speed of 50-53 km/h to achieve 100-200 meters of additional regen per kilometer on flat roads.
  3. Gradually apply throttle when starting to reach a steady speed of 40-50 km/h.
  4. Use forced regen to decelerate instead of braking.
  5. Be cautious of speed breakers and potholes, adjusting speed with forced regen to preserve brake pads and tire life.
  6. Strategically plan stops to leverage regenerative braking for a more efficient and sustainable slowdown.
  7. Optimize your riding settings by utilizing the “off profile” mode, enhancing momentum and increasing mileage by gaining extra speed during your journey.

I have been riding my S1 Pro for last 1 year and a half
I always ride in Hyper Mode

because
When i need I have that power & when I don’t i can go slow as well

For me Hyper won’t give range is just a myth
My Best one is 186Km with 4% left

Now you might be thinking how can it be possible

2 Keys:: Throttle Balancing & Patience

Throttle Balancing::
Give throttle just enough to maintain a speed
Maintain constant speed without using Cruise control
You can use cruise if the road is perfectly flat

Patience::
You have nothing to prove in road
Trust me we can do some really quick runs
But at the end what we gain nothing more than 10-15min max
Everyone will overtake you just don’t mind them😅

Gain speeds gradually don’t instantly twist the throttle

With Pillion it’s always advisable to use atleast sports because it’s more stress free condition to the Motor

Then if you are that much into getting the maximum range or you are in a situation where you have to reach your home with a lesser battery % then use ECO mode at 30-35km/h it will give you more than what you expect only one condition never give full throttle
I have tested it 2 times
First 211km with 10% left

Second time 201km with 4% left

From a practical point of view it would take a lot of time so I won’t advice to use it regularly

Hyper Mode 40-50km/h + Music
Will easily give you 120-140km range

To maximize range in the Ola electric scooter, consider the following tips:

  1. Utilize the impressive 36-liter boot space wisely by avoiding unnecessary weight, as excess weight can impact range.

  2. Maintain optimal tire pressure, typically 30 PSI for front tires and 35 PSI for rear tires, for both comfort and improved range.

  3. Sustaining momentum without excessive braking is crucial for efficiency. Aim for a speed of 50 to 60 kmph to achieve less than 20 watt-hours per kilometer.

  4. When slowing down, release the throttle first, and use regenerative braking for gradual deceleration, utilizing force region for stronger braking when needed.

  5. Leverage regenerative braking, which can contribute significantly to range, especially in city traffic situations where frequent braking is necessary.

  6. In OS4, use the power widget to monitor live motor power consumption. Strive to maintain low power while keeping speed high.

  7. Efficient riding involves achieving higher speeds with relatively low power consumption. Riding at 60 kmph with 1.2 kilowatts can offer better range than riding at 20 kmph with 0.5 kilowatts due to covering more distance in less time.

  8. Opt for zero regen setting and hyper mode for maximum range. Zero regen allows coasting without active input, while hyper mode provides instant torque within a specific speed range.

Conduct a personal test by accelerating to 20 kmph and maintaining the speed, observing the power widget to understand the minimal power required. This should be comparable to maintaining 60 kmph with the same power, highlighting the efficiency gained by covering more distance in less time.
